Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan: Properties valued at 5 crore attached in J&K

Srinagar/Jammu, June 6 (IANS) Police in J&K said on Saturday that it has attached property valued at Rs 3.5 crore belonging to two notorious drug peddlers in Srinagar district, while the property of another drug peddler valued at Rs 1.5 crore was attached in Poonch district.

A police statement said that continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and acting firmly against assets acquired through the proceeds of narcotics trade under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police has attached immovable properties worth approximately Rs 3.5 crore belonging to two notorious drug peddlers under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.

In the first action, Police Station Nigeen attached immovable property worth approximately Rs 1.30 crore under Section 68(F)(1) of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 30/2021 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act. The attached property comprises a double-storeyed residential house along with land situated at Habbak Crossing, Hazratbal, belonging to Rahil Manzoor Malla, son of Manzoor Ahmad Malla, resident of Habbak Crossing, Hazratbal.

In a separate action, Police Station Soura attached a residential house worth approximately Rs 2.20 crore under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act belonging to Adil Rashid Gudoo, son of Abdul Rashid Gudoo, resident of Keel Khan Gali (Haider Colony), Upper Soura, who is involved in illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs.

During the course of the investigation, both properties were identified as illegally acquired assets derived from proceeds generated through drug trafficking activities.

Accordingly, the properties have been formally attached/frozen under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The attachment orders prohibit the owners from selling, transferring, leasing, alienating, altering, disposing of, or creating any third-party interest in the said properties pending further legal proceedings.

These actions reflect Srinagar Police’s unwavering commitment to dismantling the narcotics ecosystem by targeting both drug traffickers and the illegally acquired assets generated through the drug trade.

Such stringent measures form an integral part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at safeguarding society, particularly the youth, from the menace of drugs and realising the vision of a Drug-Free Kashmir.

Srinagar Police urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug trafficking, substance abuse, and other criminal activities.

Public cooperation remains vital in the collective mission to eradicate the drug menace and secure a safer future for society.

In another statement, police said: “Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, District Police Poonch achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering heroin (commonly known as Chitta) from his possession in the Surankote area.”

A police team from the Police Station Surankote was conducting naka checking and patrolling duties at Mohra Wala Naka, Surankote, when a suspicious individual was observed approaching on foot.

Upon noticing the police presence, the individual attempted to flee the scene. However, due to the alertness and swift action of the police personnel, he was successfully intercepted and apprehended.

During his personal search, approximately 4.23 grams of a heroin-like narcotic substance were recovered from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Safeer Ahmed, son of Naseer Ahmed, resident of Samote, Tehsil Surankote, District Poonch. In this regard, FIR No. 162/2026 under relevant Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Surankote, and an investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source, supply chain, and intended destination of the recovered contraband.

District Police Poonch remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urges the public to cooperate with the police by sharing information related to narcotics and other criminal activities to help build a drug-free society.

District Police Poonch also attached property worth about Rs 1.5 crore under the NDPS Act. Police said that in a major action against drug trafficking and narcotics-related crimes, District Police Poonch has attached a residential property worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.

The attached property comprises a residential house situated under Khasra No. 871 at Village Samote, Tehsil Surankote, District Poonch, owned and occupied by Mst. Bashira Bi, wife of Mohd. Rashid.

The action was taken by Police Station Surankote under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 109/2025 registered under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act.

An official attachment notice has been affixed to the property, notifying the general public that the property is under legal attachment.

The notice further stipulates that no person shall purchase, sell, lease, transfer, or create any third-party interest in the property without lawful authorisation from the competent authority.

The attachment of the property is part of the sustained campaign against drug trafficking and reflects the firm commitment of Jammu & Kashmir Police to identify, target, and dismantle assets and financial resources derived from the illegal narcotics trade.

District Police Poonch reiterated its resolve to continue stringent legal action against drug peddlers and all individuals involved in narcotics-related activities.

The public has been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing any information related to drug trafficking or substance abuse.

District Police Poonch remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate the drug menace and ensure the success of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan through sustained enforcement and community participation, the police statement added.
