One state, one election is beneficial for public: Rajasthan BJP chief
Jaipur, Aug 25 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President and Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathore on Tuesday praised Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s initiative to conduct local body and Panchayati Raj elections in Rajasthan under the ‘One State, One Election’ concept.
Rathore said frequent elections increase expenditure and disrupt administrative functioning, slowing development and public welfare. He noted that repeated elections keep the government and administrative machinery tied up with electoral duties. At the same time, development activities often stall because of the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, causing inconvenience and losses to the public.
Speaking at the BJP state headquarters in Jaipur while releasing a guidebook for the upcoming local body elections published by the party’s Legal Cell, Rathore described elections as a festival of democracy. He said every BJP worker has a responsibility to safeguard democratic values and perform their duties with vigilance and dedication, whether in Panchayat, Assembly or Parliamentary elections.
He emphasised that voters are the ultimate authority in a democracy and political workers must ensure that voters are informed about facts while countering what he described as misinformation spread by the opposition.
Rathore also highlighted the BJP’s focus on training young workers and encouraging greater youth participation in politics.
According to him, the party provides opportunities for young workers to gain experience, undergo training and eventually become public representatives committed to public service.
He said it is a priority for the BJP to ensure that the next generation advances under the guidance of senior leaders and dedicates itself to serving the public.
Describing the enthusiasm among BJP workers ahead of the local body elections as encouraging, Rathore said youth and women participated in large numbers.
He attributed the positive response to the welfare initiatives of the BJP-led “double-engine government” at the grassroots level and the strength of the party’s organisational network.
Several senior party leaders attended the guidebook launch, including BJP National General Secretary Harish Dwivedi, State General Secretary (Organisation) Ajey Kumar, State General Secretary Shravan Singh Bagdi, Legal Cell State Convener Saurabh Saraswat, Co-convener Bhawani Singh Rajawat, Media In-charge Pramod Vashishth and Social Media Convener Hirenra Kaushik.
