
Delhi cheating case: Man arrested, Rs 60 lakh worth jewellery and cash seized

New Delhi, Sep 18 (IANS) A 24-year-old man has been arrested by the staff of Safdarjung Enclave Police Station in the national capital in connection with a cheating case involving jewellery and cash worth around Rs 60 lakh.
The accused, identified as Yash Kailash Bulchandani, a resident of Kheda in Gujarat, was arrested during a police operation in Mehsana.
Police said around 96 grams of melted gold, two gold coins, a gold chain, a diamond set and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession.
According to the police, an FIR was registered at the Safdarjung Enclave Police Station on July 17 under Sections 318(4) and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the case.
During the investigation, police found that the complainant had come in contact with the accused through social media.
The accused allegedly gained her confidence by presenting himself as an investment expert and subsequently induced her to hand over money and jewellery for investment purposes.
Police said that on July 9, the accused met the complainant in Delhi and allegedly fled with her mobile phone, jewellery and a bag containing Rs 14 lakh in cash and a credit card.
Following the complaint, a dedicated team was formed to investigate the case.
The team comprised Sub-Inspector Pankaj Kumar, Head Constable Bhavani Singh and Constable Abhishek, under the leadership of Inspector Rajneesh Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Safdarjung Enclave Police Station, and the overall supervision of Safdarjung Enclave Assistant Commissioner of Police, Melvyn Verghese.
During the investigation, the police team conducted technical analysis, examined CCTV footage, verified available records and coordinated with concerned agencies and service providers.
The information gathered through these efforts was analysed and corroborated, which helped the police identify and trace the accused.
Acting on the developed leads, the police team conducted a raid in Mehsana and arrested Bulchandani.
Police said the case has been worked out with the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the suspected stolen property.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
