Chandrayaan-3 Landing Site Named ‘Shiv Shakti Point’, Announces PM Modi
Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that the site of the successful Chandrayaan-3 landing on the Moon will be known as the ‘Shiv Shakti Point’. Addressing the scientists at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Command Centre, he stated that the term “Shiv” signifies the well-being of humanity, while “Shakti” symbolizes the strength required to achieve the betterment of humanity. This point will represent unity from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari, motivating future generations to utilize science for humanity’s betterment.
Additionally, the point where the Vikram Lander of Chandrayaan-2 made its soft landing on the Moon, following an earlier failure, will be designated as the “Tiranga Point.” The tricolour Indian flag, the Tiranga, is a symbol of national pride and unity, and the naming of this point will serve as a reminder that setbacks are not the end, but rather stepping stones to success.
Furthermore, August 23, the day of Vikram Lander’s soft landing, will be celebrated annually as “National Space Day.” On this day, the achievements of science, technology, and innovation will be honored, inspiring the nation to pursue advancements in these fields.
PM Modi’s visit to ISRO was greeted with warmth as he met with scientists and commended their dedication and efforts. The announcement of these names reflects India’s commitment to space exploration and its intention to continue pushing the boundaries of scientific achievement.
