Akhilesh Yadav accuses UP administration of making ‘excuses’ to cancel Bulandshahr event

Lucknow, Sep 9 (IANS) Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday accused Uttar Pradesh administration of making up ‘excuses’ to obstruct his scheduled visit to Bulandshahr, including alleged waterlogging at the helipad prepared for his arrival.

Yadav alleged that the administration was deliberately looking for reasons to disrupt his revised programme, which includes a press conference and direct interaction with SP workers on September 11.

Taking to X, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister questioned the administration’s claim regarding the condition of the helipad and demanded an impartial investigation in the presence of SP representatives.

“In Bulandshahr, there is no waterlogging anywhere near the helipad, yet by forcibly displaying cement, mortar, and paver blocks, the administration is seeking an excuse to cancel our September 11 program on the sly instructions of the government. Let the truth be brought out by having an investigation conducted by impartial experts in front of SP officials,” Yadav said while sharing a video of the spot.

“Even if we come by road, will excuses be made about the expressway or highway or road being bad, because all those roads are truly not even fit to drive on anyway? The public is asking why the helipad and the weather turn bad only for the Opposition?” he added.

The controversy follows the cancellation of an SP workers’ conference that was originally scheduled for September 12. According to SP leaders, the party had sought permission to hold the programme at Numaish Maidan or Ganga Nagar Maidan, but the district administration denied permission, citing technical reasons, and suggested Kamalpur village as an alternative venue.

SP leaders opposed the decision, pointing out that Kamalpur is located far from the city, and subsequently cancelled the rally. The party then prepared a revised itinerary for Akhilesh Yadav’s visit.

Under the revised programme, the SP chief is scheduled to hold a press conference and interact directly with party workers in Bulandshahr on September 11.
