‘Biggest clarion call for national security’: BJP on PM Modi’s plea for unity against nation’s enemies

New Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS) The BJP on Wednesday backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for unity against the enemies of the country, saying that he has consistently advocated collective efforts for the nation’s development through the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas’. They further said that it is the biggest clarion call for national security.
The party said that some political opponents were more concerned about their own interests than the country’s progress.
The remarks came after Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday urged political parties to unite in the national interest and called on citizens to identify and defeat what he described as the ‘enemies of the country’. The government is seeking to build consensus for the passage of the delimitation-linked Women’s Reservation Bill.
Addressing Vijayadashami celebrations at the DDA Utsav Ground in IP Extension, New Delhi, on Tuesday, PM Modi urged people to follow the principle of ‘Nation First’. He said that forces seeking to harm the country, divide society and oppose its cultural values must be resisted.
“The forces that inflict harm on the country, the people who divide society and the mindset that hates our culture, all these are the enemies of the nation,” he said.
Speaking to IANS, BJP Bihar President Sanjay Saraogi supported the Prime Minister’s appeal, describing it as a significant call for national security.
“The Prime Minister is absolutely right. On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, Narendra Modi ji’s call to the 1.4 billion citizens of the country to unite against the enemies of Mother India is the biggest clarion call for national security,” Saraogi said.
He further alleged that while India was performing well on the global stage, some anti-national elements and political leaders were attempting to undermine the Sanatan culture.
“When the country is doing so well at the world level, a few anti-national elements and desperate political leaders are trying to hurt our Sanatan culture,” he said.
Referring to the teachings of saints, Saraogi said that protecting the country’s security and self-respect was a duty.
“Our saints have taught us that when the country’s security and self-respect are at stake, it is our dharma to destroy the forces threatening them,” he said.
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also backed PM Modi’s appeal, reiterating that collective efforts were essential for the country’s development.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always stressed that we should all work together to build the country. Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas has been his mantra. But there are opponents in the country who have nothing to do with the progress. They consider their political interests more important than serving the nation. I feel that after the Prime Minister’s appeal, those people should introspect and join the mainstream of the country and focus on how the country should progress under PM Modi’s leadership. Then the public will appreciate them and the country will also progress,” he said.
Janata Dal(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said, “This appeal is highly relevant and important. No one should hesitate to acknowledge today that countless martyrs sacrificed their lives and numerous freedom fighters endured torture in prison to free Mother India from the shackles of slavery, after which the country attained its Tricolour.”
