BJP-JDS protests against Congress govt, raises Nagendra, Adani and tunnel issues
BENGALURU: BJP-JDS opposition members, led by Leader of Opposition R Ashoka, staged a protest in the Karnataka Assembly, raising issues including former minister B Nagendra, Adani and the proposed use of park land in Bengaluru.
The Opposition members shouted slogans targeting Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and the Congress government, accusing it of favouring corporate interests over public welfare. They also questioned the Congress leadership’s stand on industrialist Gautam Adani.

The BJP intensified its demand for action against Nagendra over alleged misuse of funds meant for Dalit welfare. Members questioned where the earmarked funds had gone and demanded Nagendra’s removal from the Cabinet.
The Opposition also targeted Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi during the protest, making allegations over the alleged diversion of welfare funds.
The protest extended to the government’s proposed amendment to the 1975 Karnataka Parks (Preservation) Act. The BJP opposed the move, under which up to 5% of park and garden land in Bengaluru could be used for public infrastructure and utility projects.
Opposition members also opposed the proposed tunnel project and accused the government of compromising Bengaluru’s green spaces.
