BJP’s ‘Seva Sankalp Yatra’ concludes after 17,000 km journey across MP

Bhopal, Oct 5 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Jal, Jan and Seva Sankalp Yatra’ concluded in Madhya Pradesh on Monday after covering nearly 17,000 km across all 53 districts and organising more than 700 programmes focused on community service and public participation.

The yatra, held from September 18 to October 5 as part of the BJP’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, was organised by the party’s youth wing to connect young volunteers with people at the grassroots level and highlight Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service.

BJP state general secretary and Seva Sankalp Abhiyan convenor Rahul Kothari said the yatra passed through 14 routes and had 393 halts, including 139 night stays and 254 other stops.

“The purpose of the yatra was not simply to travel from one place to another, but to reach villages and towns and involve people in service, water conservation, cleanliness, plantation and other social activities,” Kothari said.

The programmes included blood donation and health camps, cleanliness drives, plantation activities, cleaning of rivers and ponds, water conservation initiatives and cow service.

Volunteers also interacted with students and beneficiaries, distributed nutrition kits and foodgrains to needy people, honoured sanitation workers and provided assistive devices to persons with disabilities.

The BJP said the campaign enabled young volunteers to interact directly with farmers, rural residents, women, students and other sections of society and understand local issues.

The yatra also witnessed the participation of senior BJP leaders at different locations.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav joined the campaign in Dewas and participated in a plantation programme, while state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal took part in similar activities in Harda and Betul.

Ministers, MPs, MLAs, party office-bearers and residents also participated in programmes held along the route.

Kothari said the conclusion of the yatra would not mark the end of the service activities undertaken during the campaign.

“The conclusion of the yatra is not the end of the service initiative. The objective is to make service and public participation a continuing activity among the youth and society,” he said.

The BJP said the initiative was intended to encourage young people to continue community-oriented activities in their respective areas and strengthen public participation in social and environmental issues.
