BRS calls for protest in Telangana to expose Congress govt’s ‘1,000-day betrayal’

Hyderabad, Aug 23 (IANS) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) said on Sunday that it will launch a week-long campaign across Telangana from September 2 to expose what it describes as the Congress government’s betrayal of the people as it completes 1,000 days in office.

The BRS will organise a series of innovative programmes, highlighting the alleged failure of the Congress government to fulfil its promises and the problems faced by different sections of society.

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) called upon the entire party organisation to unite and ensure that the alleged failures of the Congress government during its 1,000-day tenure are taken to every section of the people across the state.

KTR said the Congress came to power after making numerous promises to the people, including 420 promises, 13 declarations and six guarantees, assuring them that these commitments would be implemented within 100 days.

“However, even after 1,000 days in office, the Congress government had failed to fully fulfil even a single promise,” he alleged.

KTR said that people across Telangana were deeply unhappy with the Congress government’s alleged administrative failures, corruption and misgovernance.

He directed the party cadre to explain to the people how the Congress government had failed them and to highlight its policies, administrative failures and alleged irregularities.

The programmes from September 2 should not be confined merely to the promises made by Congress, he said.

They should also highlight the failures of the state government after assuming office and the problems currently being faced by different sections of society.

KTR called upon the BRS to once again take the pending commitments made to different sections of society to the people through “Baaki Cards”, highlighting the benefits and financial assistance that were promised but allegedly remain unpaid.

He said that the cards should remind people of the amounts that have accumulated as pending payments under the monthly financial assistance promised to agricultural labourers, senior citizens, women, students and youth.

KTR alleged that the Congress government had deceived everyone from farmers to women after coming to power in the state.

The BRS said the alleged failure of the Congress government to clear more than Rs 12,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues should be highlighted among students and their parents across colleges.

He called for the issue to be taken to every college and brought into wider public discussion, given its impact on students and their education.

He also alleged that the Congress government had failed to provide jobs to the youth and had not fulfilled its promises.

KTR called for special programmes to be organised for every section to which the Congress had made promises, including auto drivers, women, farmers, tribals, Dalits, Backward Classes, government employees and retired employees.

He said that the BRS should meet each section of society separately and explain the alleged failures of the Congress government in a manner that people could easily understand.

“The programmes should not follow a uniform format, but should instead be designed around the specific problems faced by each section,” he added.

He said that social media should be used as a powerful weapon, with innovative campaigns and communication formats developed to ensure that the alleged failures of the Congress government reach the younger generation.

KTR called upon BRS MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party general secretaries, constituency in-charges, former public representatives, former corporation chairpersons and former Zilla Parishad chairpersons, along with leaders at all levels, to participate in the week-long programmes.
