ChefTalk completes 18 successful years; dignitaries hail Govinda Babu Poojary’s vision

Bengaluru: ChefTalk, one of the country’s prominent organisations in the food industry, marked 18 successful years with a grand carnival at its headquarters in Bommanahalli, Bengaluru. Founded by social activist and entrepreneur Govinda Babu Poojary, the organisation celebrated the milestone with participation from dignitaries across social, administrative and cultural spheres.

The annual celebration, held as the country ushered in the New Year, brought together representatives from labour organisations, the judiciary, police, social activists and the food industry workforce, lending a festive yet purposeful tone to the event.

The carnival was inaugurated by State Women’s Commission Chairperson Nagalakshmi Chowdhury, who congratulated Govinda Babu Poojary for building ChefTalk into a support system for over 5,000 families. She lauded the organisation’s contribution to employment generation and social responsibility. Addressing nearly 5,000 food industry employees, actor S. Narayan, Deputy Commissioners of Police Reena Suvarna, K.M. Satish and Mahesh Kumar, retired judge Manunath Naik, and social activist Ravi Shetty (Byndoor) shared words of encouragement and inspiration.

Speaking on the occasion, ACP Reena Suvarna emphasised that women working in private organisations should emerge as role models and become the voice of society. Several speakers highlighted Govinda Babu Poojary as an example of socially responsible entrepreneurship, noting his role in providing employment, supporting underprivileged families, facilitating housing through banking and charitable trusts, and encouraging skill development.

Social activist Ravi Shetty described Poojary as a leader in job creation who has promoted self-employment and adopted schools to strengthen access to education. Retired judge Manunath Naik and actor S. Narayan observed that despite his extensive social service, Poojary has remained away from publicity, focusing instead on grassroots impact.

As part of the celebrations, over 100 employees from various ChefTalk units were honoured with Best Employee Awards. Cultural programmes, including Yakshagana and dance performances, added colour and vibrancy to the 18th anniversary carnival.
