‘CM Is Nayab, But Electricity Is Gayab’: Deepender Hooda Targets Haryana Govt

New Delhi: Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda has criticised the BJP government in Haryana over the power situation, taking a swipe at Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini with the remark, “The Chief Minister is ‘Nayab’ (new), but electricity in Haryana is ‘gayab’ (missing).”

Hooda also opposed the state government’s decision to privatise power distribution in Gurugram and Nuh. He alleged that handing over distribution in the two high-revenue-generating districts to private entities was discriminatory.

The Congress leader expressed concern that privatisation could undermine the cross-subsidy system, which helps maintain affordable electricity for different consumer categories.

Hooda stressed that electricity should remain affordable for the middle class, farmers, the poor and rural households. He urged the government to prioritise the interests of the common people while taking decisions on power distribution.
