Ranchi, Sep 7 (IANS) The son of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MLA, Janardan Paswan, from Jharkhand’s Chatra district was allegedly abducted near the gate of Amity University in Ranchi on Monday, triggering a massive search operation by the city police.

The incident has caused concern across the state, with police teams scrambling to trace the student and identify the kidnappers.

According to the MLA, a group of unidentified persons forcibly took away his son, who is a student at Amity University.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, senior police officials swung into action and deployed multiple teams to search for the missing student.

Initial information suggests that the student had gone to the university on Monday. Around noon, several persons arrived near the main gate of the campus in Scorpio and Thar SUVs.

The MLA alleged that the assailants assaulted his son before forcibly bundling him into one of the vehicles and driving away.

Paswan claimed that three to four Scorpio vehicles carrying several people were involved in the incident.

He said his son’s Thar SUV was later found parked outside the university gate.

The lawmaker has informed senior Ranchi police officials and urged them to ensure the student’s safe recovery at the earliest.

Following the complaint, police launched an extensive investigation and began examining CCTV footage from the university campus and surrounding areas.

Investigators are trying to identify the vehicles used in the kidnapping, track their movement, and establish the route used by the abductors.

Police have also intensified surveillance on all major roads leading out of Ranchi district and have set up vehicle-checking points at key locations.

Efforts are underway to gather information about the suspected vehicles and identify those involved in the alleged kidnapping.

Investigators are questioning the student’s friends, acquaintances and other relevant persons to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are also exploring possible motives behind the alleged abduction while continuing the search operation.
