MP: Three killed, including 3-year-old girl, in Narsinghpur road accident

Narsinghpur, April 16 (IANS) In a tragic road accident, three people, including a young girl, lost their lives while two others sustained injuries after two motorcycles collided head-on under the jurisdiction of Gotegaon police station in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

The deceased have been identified as Daulat Silawat (23), his wife Sapna Silawat, and their three-year-old daughter Siddhi. The injured include Neeraj Silawat, who was accompanying the family, and Qasim Khan (25), the rider of the other motorcycle.

According to police sources, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when Daulat Silawat, a resident of Chhidori village, was returning from Barua village on his motorcycle along with his wife Sapna, their toddler daughter Siddhi, and his companion Neeraj Silawat. On the way, their two-wheeler collided head-on with another motorcycle being ridden by Qasim Khan, a resident of Noori Mohalla in Gotegaon.

The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the instantaneous death of Daulat, Sapna, and little Siddhi. Neeraj Silawat and Qasim Khan were critically injured and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable but under medical observation.

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident took place on a stretch of road where visibility or road conditions may have contributed to the tragedy. Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speed or failure to follow traffic rules by one or both riders could be the possible cause, though the exact reason is yet to be ascertained.

Gotegaon police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings and statements of the injured persons.

Road safety experts have once again highlighted the rising number of fatal two-wheeler accidents in rural and semi-urban areas of Madhya Pradesh, often involving entire families travelling on single motorcycles. They urged strict enforcement of traffic rules, including helmet usage and speed limits, especially on district roads.

The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with villagers expressing grief over the loss of a young family. Relatives and neighbours gathered at the family’s residence in Chhidori to console the bereaved kin.

Police have appealed to motorists to exercise caution and avoid overloading vehicles, particularly when travelling with children. The Gotegaon police station is continuing its probe to determine if any other factors, such as road defects or mechanical failure, played a role in the mishap.

This unfortunate accident once again underscores the urgent need for better road infrastructure and awareness campaigns on safe riding practices in the region.
