PM Modi to be welcomed by 13,500 tribal women with traditional dance at Andhra’s Bhogapuram

Visakhapatnam, July 31 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be welcomed by 13,500 tribal women with the traditional ‘Dhimsa’ dance when he arrives at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district on Saturday to inaugurate the Greenfield International Airport.

Andhra Pradesh government has made elaborate arrangements to accord a grand welcome to the Prime Minister.

The ‘Dhimsa’ dance by 13,500 tribal women will create Guiness Book of World Record, said officials on Friday.

Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport has been decorated to showcase the culture, traditions, and arts of Andhra Pradesh.

Impressive and large-scale Etikoppaka artwork has been displayed at the airport’s welcome gate. The interior has been decorated to highlight the State’s historical grandeur through displays of leather puppetry, the Bobbili Veena, and imagery representing geographical heritage, such as the Banganapalli mango.

Chief Minister Chandrababu on Friday held a video conference with officials to review the arrangements for the inauguration of the airport.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that all arrangements for the airport inauguration have been completed.

The Prime Minister, who will be reaching Bhogapuram around 11 a.m., will undertake a walk-through of the passenger terminal building.

At around 11:30 a.m., he will inaugurate the airport. He will also lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over Rs 17,900 crore in Bhogapuram and address the gathering on the occasion.

Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu and senior officials will attend the event.

Developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode at a cost of over Rs 5,640 crore, the Greenfield airport has been designed to handle 6 million passengers annually.

The airport is expected to provide a significant boost to tourism, trade, investment and employment generation in Andhra Pradesh while strengthening air connectivity in the region.

Meanwhile, special events have been organised under the theme “Giving Wings to North Andhra’s Dreams”

A curtain-raiser event was held at Rushikonda Beach in Visakhapatnam on Friday. State Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography, Kandula Durgesh, attended the event and addressed the gathering

A drone show was held in the evening at Visakhapatnam Beach Road.

The events organised by the Tourism Department captivated the audience and tourists alike.

Kandula Durgesh stated that development and transport connectivity are crucial for boosting the tourism sector and creating employment opportunities for the youth in the North Andhra region. Establishing efficient connectivity via rail, road, air, and waterways will attract industries and expand the tourism sector, thereby generating jobs on a large scale.
