PM Modi’s 25 years in office not about personal milestone but about celebrating ideals of democracy: BAPS’ Swami Brahmaviharidas

Abu Dhabi, Oct 7 (IANS) BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha spokesperson and the head of BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, Swami Brahmaviharidas, congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing twenty five years in office and said that it is not just about celebrating a personal milestone but about celebrating the ideals of democracy.
Sharing a social media post on ‘X’, Swami Brahmaviharidas said, “25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s years in office, without a break, continuous and ceaseless, it’s not just about celebrating a personal milestone; it’s about celebrating the ideals of democracy. It’s unthinkable, unimaginable that a person can remain in public office, first as Chief Minister and second as the Prime Minister of a nation.”
He said it was especially surprising for a nation as big as India with a population of more than 1/6th of the world. “Maybe it’s possible in a small country with a small population; not possible in a large country like India, which is more than 1/6th of the world and democratic in all its processes. Holding office continuously is a great celebration not just for the Prime Minister but for the whole of India and everybody who celebrates democracy.”
He continued to praise PM Modi and said, “ With so many changes and the world facing so many challenges, we have a leader who hasn’t taken a single holiday in 25 years. Imagine that: no golf, no beach, no time for himself, a leader who never spent a day for his own family because he considers India his very own family.”
“25 years without a break and 25 years without any personal time is a unique celebration for a human being,” he said.
He said that his mentor, and holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, BAPS’ spiritual leader, “who looked upon the beloved PM as one of his own, would often told him (the PM) that on the footlines of his feet he has to serve till the last breath, whether he is in office or not in office, whether surrounded by people, whether alone. Till the last breath, Seva, or service, is the goal of a true leader.”
While marking PM Modi’s 25 years of public service, Swami Brahmaviharidas reminisced, “I also remember once he had come; while we were sitting in a car for the opening of a school, he was so frustrated at the moment because people opposed it for no reason at all. He told his holiness that, at a time like this, I feel like renouncing everything.”
“That is when His Holiness told him, ‘ Remember, if you are doing good things and they are selfless for the nation, never get tired, never retire, and never expire from the enthusiasm that we possess.’ So to serve with enthusiasm, to serve to create change, to be inspired for innovation, to live actually for the people is the miracle,” he said.
While painting a revered picture with his words, Swami Brahmaviharidas added, “So we celebrate not just the 25 years of a Prime Minister in office, but we celebrate the principles of democracy. The principles of hard work, of loyalty, of service, the principles of bringing transformation, and the principles of selfless leadership in these 25 years.”
He said that the entire world was thankful to the Prime Minister.
“Not just India, but I believe the world is thankful for a leader who is bringing the world together because a true leader is not just one who makes his own country great, but he is a leader who makes the whole world great, and that is the spirit of leadership,” he said.
“We are so happy, and remember those who love you will always love you, and those who ignore you adore you secretly, for the hard work, great work, and the ceaseless service you do. Continue with the blessings of God; the whole world is with you,” he added.
